Tauranga’s First Euro-Styled Bier Haus Opens Soon
Lovers of fine European food and beer can soon raise their steins when De Bier Haus opens in Tauranga on 9th December
on the Strand.
Serving a range of European and New Zealand beer and cuisine, De Bier Haus bar and restaurant offers a unique
socialising experience.
The interior is a mix of German and Belgium architecture and incorporates rich timber panelling and stonework with long
tables and bench seating, which is ideal for large groups of people to gather around and enjoy the atmosphere.
De Bier Haus embodies heritage, tradition and passion for beer. It also boasts a good selection of European and New
Zealand dishes, which range from steamed mussels to a Bratwurst sausage selection; from char-grilled ostrich to oysters
and sauerkraut.
With a large open fire in the dining hall and a talented chef and his team, it’s hard to imagine a more conducive
environment for socialising with friends, family and other guests.
“We are taking the best of Europe and bringing it home to Tauranga,” says Dean Turnbull, owner/operator of De Bier
Haus.
“New Zealanders’ appetite for diversity fits with the fantastic array of European and Kiwi beer and food matches we
have on offer,” says Dean.
The Mac’s craft range of five beers will be on tap, including Mac’s Reserve, which is styled on a Marzen lager of
Germany. Stella Artois and Hoegaarden will also be on tap and there will be a selection of packaged European beers from
Germany, Belgium and France; something to suit everyone’s taste.
Dean says there is a strong focus on beer, and the history and presentation of all the beers: “Each beer has its own
special glass - including a specially imported German stein, history and rituals of presentation so we’ve trained all
our staff in the art of pouring each beer, ensuring that all the European traditions are maintained.”
De Bier Haus is open seven days a week and has a dining capacity for 100 – 120 people. For those with a sweet tooth,
there is also an adjoining Eis Café to complete the European theme, which is only the third ice cream café in New
Zealand to be exclusively scooping Mövenpick premium ice-cream from Switzerland. -ends-
