“NOT a Silent Night” nearly sold out!
The Auckland Philharmonia’s annual “NOT a Silent Night” concerts are again proving popular; the two concerts, on 17 and 19 December are nearly sold – within just two weeks of going on sale!
“NOT a Silent Night” is a festive family concert combining orchestral and vocal works, dance and readings. Joining the Auckland Philharmonia and conductor Marc Taddei are narrator Raymond Hawthorn, the Chapman Tripp Opera Chorus (chorus master John Rosser), singers from the PricewaterhouseCoopers Dame Malvina Major Emerging Artist programme administered by the NBR New Zealand Opera (Andrew Glover, Kristen Darragh, Wade Kernot and Phillip Rhodes), organist John Wells, trumpeter Viktor Kisnichenko, and dancers from the Golden Season Dance Academy (choreographer Su Kar).
“The Auckland Philharmonia first performed “NOT a Silent Night” in 2000. When it was created,” Orchestra Director of Operations John Ure says, “the objective was to present a Christmas concert that was innovative, just a little bit different, and included our fellow performing arts organisations. It’s a very accessible concert that appeals to a wide audience – and each year it’s been a huge success.”
Celebrate the festive season with “NOT a Silent Night”:
Friday 17 December (7.30pm) and Sunday 19 December (4pm) at the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Parnell.
Adult tickets from $41, concessions available, (service fees may apply). Phone the Auckland Philharmonia on 0800-PHILHARMONIA (0800-744 542) or book online at www.aucklandphil.co.nz
The Auckland Philharmonia receives major funding from Creative New Zealand and a major grant from Auckland City.
