Statement From The EFS Charitable Trust
This week the Ellerslie Flower Show Charitable Trust resolved a contractual issue with Weekend Gardener magazine, which will not have a presence at the 2004 show.
An issue arose when the EFS Charitable Trust signed Weekend Gardener as an exhibitor and then issued a sponsorship contract to New Zealand Gardener, offering exclusive rights as a Gold sponsor.
"We are apologetic that this situation arose, especially as it has unintentionally implied that New Zealand Gardener has excluded a competing magazine from the show. This is not the case," said Board of Trustees chairman Steve Bramley.
"The decision to exclude Weekend Gardener was made by the EFS Charitable Trust in order to uphold our sponsor contractual rights."
"There are no outstanding issues between the EFS Charitable Trust and Weekend Gardener."
The EFS Charitable Trust would like to acknowledge the support of the 10th Anniversary Ellerslie Flower Show¹s Gold sponsor Fairfax NZ Ltd, publishers of New Zealand Gardener and the Sunday Star-Times.
"We reiterate our unequivocal support for Fairfax NZ Ltd who came on board as a Gold Sponsor enabling us to mount the 10th Anniversary Ellerslie Flower Show this year," said Bramley.
"We highly value our partnership with Fairfax who have exceeded our expectations by supporting the Show in key areas over and above our sponsorship arrangement."
"We believe the gardeners of New Zealand and the horticultural industry at large will be delighted with this year's 10th Anniversary Ellerslie Flower Show."
