Westfield Style Pasifika At Fashion Week
The three designers who have been selected to show at Westfield Style Pasifika during Air New Zealand Fashion Week are
all unique in their celebration of the icons and symbols that are very much a part of New Zealand and the Pacific.
Each of the three labels is very original in design and influence but united in their fresh view of their country and
place in the world.
The Westfield Style Pasifika show at Air New Zealand Fashion Week is noted for its energy and combining great
entertainment talent with memorable fashion.
Overstayer is a label with a unique take on Pacific Hip Hop urban culture. It is created by New Zealand hip hop producer
and musician KING KAPISI. It fuses contemporary hip hop culture with a twist of the Pacific.
Paula Coulthard is the talent behind the high end fashion label Coulthard. She has a background in art, design and
costume and is inspired by New Zealand's industrial, cultural and art history. Her garments surprise in their detail -
from the cameo with a moko to the tiny fantail embroidered on a brilliantly tailored jacket.
Nadine Freundlich also has a passion for classic tailoring. There are two elements to her signature range: a seasonal
fashion-driven collection, and an in house ready-to-wear range made up of tailored pieces and designer merino
embellished with her signature Swarovski aramoana pattern.
Westfield Style Pasifika has been part of fashion week since its inception and introduced a number of key new designers.
Overstayer Label: Overstayer Based: Auckland
Overstayer was created in 2001 by NZ hiphop musician and producer KING KAPISI with the purpose of building a strong
presence in the hiphop streetwear market.
Overstayer wants to create a new path for the fashion label hunters who don't want to wear the ordinary shit. It
understands why consumers look for clothing that's unique in design and conveys the hiphop urban culture and lifestyle.
Overstayer's popularity has grown immensely over the last three season's with local retailers and major department
stores now stocking the line.
Articles have appeared in international magazines worldwide about the pacific influence that the brand has released on
runways. The success of this lifestyle brand is the passion in which the Overstayer team thrives to build a fresh
outlook on urban streetwear fashion scene. The Overstayer clothing range fuses contemporary hiphop culture with a twist
of pacific flavour. The element of pacific culture and our global location has largely influenced the brands direction

COULTHARD
Designer: Paula Coulthard Based: Auckland
Paula Coulthard comes from Christchurch. She graduated from Canterbury University in 1989 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts
(Sculpture) Paula worked as a props maker for seven years in the film and television industry.
In 2002 she worked for six months as Costume Props Supervisor on the film The Last Samurai.
COULTHARD began life as a home furnishings label in 2000 and went on to expand into clothes.
Paula Coulthard/ COULTHARD won the Urban Streetwear category in Westfield Style Pasifika, 2003 and 2004.
This is the second winter season for COULTHARD. COULTHARD is now stocking six outlets in New Zealand and three in
Australia.
COULTHARD is a high end fashion label, inspired by New Zealand's industrial, cultural and art history, and the
decorative arts of the homemaker. The label is defined by hand crafted details, natural fibres and a feminine but gritty
style.
Paula is interested in the mixed blood of New Zealand and the unique culture which results.
Nadine Freundlich
Designer: Nadine Freundlich Based: Auckland
Designer Nadine Freundlich made her debut into the fashion industry at Air New Zealand Fashion Week 2003.
Nadine went back to design school at 29 and graduated in 1996 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts/Fashion Major.
Nadine's passion for classic tailoring can be seen in her signature brand. Lines are deceptively simple, creating a
modern silhouette which celebrates the idea of woman today.
There are two elements to her signature range: a seasonal fashion-driven collection, and an in house ready-to-wear range
made up of tailored pieces and designer merino embellished with her signature Swarovski aramoana pattern.
Sumptuous fabrics, quality manufacturing, exquisite tailoring * all are points of honour with Nadine who, knowing that
skilled garment makers can be hard to find, had the discipline to train in production before launching as a designer.
The Autumn/Winter 05 Cider McPherson Collection is a playful anthology conveying the cultural diversity of New Zealand
through careful juxtaposition of motifs and visual representations found in the many cultures of New Zealand.
BACKGROUND ON WESTFIELD STYLE PASIFIKA The Westfield Style Pasifika Spectacular features hundreds of entertainers and
models in a potent mixture of fashion tinged with a taste of the South Pacific and combined with a showcase of music,
dance and culture. It is the largest fashion award to be held every year.
This melting pot that is Westfield Style Pasifika makes it unique in the world and an extraordinary celebration of the
talent and cultures that are New Zealand. Style Pasifika has been an entertainment icon for 11 years.
