Festival Organisers Electric About New Sponsor!
Tourism Coromandel are delighted to announce a new partnership with Mercury Energy, who this week signed on as major
sponsors of the 2004 Pohutukawa Festival.
Mercury Energy’s involvement in this year’s festival will allow the two and a half week event to be taken to new levels,
showcasing the best the Coromandel Peninsula has to offer!
The Mercury Energy Pohutukawa Festival will celebrate the Coromandel’s launch into summer touching all of the major
towns on the Peninsula. Events and activities are planned for Coromandel, Whitianga, Hahei, Tairua, Pauanui, Thames and
Whangamata.

platform to ensure the festival is a huge success this year.”

environmental awareness.”
Mercury Energy has received several accolades for its environmental achievements. The company has been awarded a Diamond
Enviro-Mark, the highest achievement level of an international standard for environmental performance, and recently won
the Renewable Energy EECA EnergyWise Award, for its work in promoting energy efficiency.
The Mercury Energy Pohutukawa Festival will feature a range of unique, standout events including appearances from some
popular New Zealand celebrities. Festival organisers are already flat out preparing for a celebration that will cater
for both the local community and the large numbers of visitors expected to partake in the range of events and
activities.
The festival kicks off on 25 November with a fun and comical debate between the East and West Coasts of the Peninsula
and culminates in a Jazz Brunch at Mercure Grand Puka Park Lodge in Pauanui on 12 December.
Over 50 cuisine, outdoors, marine and community events will take place in between, coinciding with the flowering of New
Zealand’s favourite native tree.
