SAFFRON LAURENCE-BADE SOLA LAURENCE-BADE
The PR Gallery this week warmly welcomes Saffron and Sola Laurence-Bade both two very talented female Maori artists.
Who are creative as well as resourceful with using varying degrees of mixed media their palette of colour and paints incorporate enamel, acrylic, oils, PVA, stressed copper, fairy lights, feathers, bamboo, pebbles and shells from their Whanau beach in Whangaruru. Sola uses a combination of canvas and board for her pieces with Saffron using canvas to express her artistic voice. Both sisters have almost a third eye in drawing on the beautiful magic, which surrounds them and depicting the pure essences of the object or subject.

Saffron Laurence-Bade:
8 years Graphic Designer
Auckland Based Artist Saffron has worked in the field of Graphic Design for 8years creating stylish and cutting edge graphical design for some of Auckland’s most prominent corporate companies. Constantly pushing the boundaries Saffron employs her love of nature’s beauty into her work as a graphic artist and as a Painter. Saffron enjoys painting beauty that appeals to her which many of her work depicts, she has a strong affinity with mother earth in all her forms and derives comfort from the opening blossoms of mother nature. Named to the beguiling beauty of the Saffron flower it is obvious by the very derivation of her name why she sources much comfort with the perfumed colour of nature.
Sola Laurence-Bade:
2 years Northland Polytechnic 1 year Film Course, Ngatiwai Trust Film Course
West Auckland based Artist Sola, Mother of Two delightful children, son 5yrs daughter 9yrs works as a Professional Photographer for a West Auckland based company. Sola allows her thought process to shape how a pieces eventually is put together her generation of ideas from concept to application, is a process she uses to allow the pieces to form its on journey.
Sola uses the practise of Mixed Media to enhance a piece she is concentrating on Sola has used in her works, PVA, acrylic, feathers, stressed copper, bamboo, and shells to add 2 dimensional texture to her work incorporating these media on to canvas and board. At present Sola has a strong affinity with vivid reds, deep blacks and accenting white, which feature strongly in her work.
