Rumours true: Hamiltonian in charge of FRINGE NZ 05
Lips have been wagging. Rumours abound. Whispers and speculation. The Fringe Arts Trust can confirm it is true. A mooloo is in charge. The new FRINGE NZ 05 director is from HAMILTON!
Starting on Monday 4 October, Mark Westerby, proud Hamiltonian, has been hired to whip FRINGE NZ 05 into CHAORDER (organised chaos). And he can hardly wait.
“I can hardly wait,’ said Mr Westerby.
A man of few words, much like other great Hamiltonians (think that bald guy whose name rhymes with “kitch”), Mark has an arts pedigree which would rival any of Waikato’s premium stud bulls.
Mark’s involvement in festivals and events include the Woollomooloo Festival, Mercedes Fashion Week in Sydney, Tropfest Film Festival and the Hamilton Gardens Summer Festival. He’s just wrapped up The Shoot Out, a 24 hour film making festival.
Fringe NZ is extreme mainstream and Wellington's riskiest festival. It is a three to four week hurricane of creativity, diversity and excitement happens in February and March every year.
It's an open access festival: come one, come all. That means that anyone who wants to put on a Fringe event can do so for the duration of the Festival if they register and pay the appropriate fee.
The dates for FRINGE NZ 05 - Friday 11 February to Saturday 5 March 2005. Information about how to register will be posted on www.fringe.org.nz shortly. If you’d like to receive a registration form email welcome@fringe.org.nz or phone Wellington (04) 495 8015 and leave your details with Casey.
