Herzliche Gre - Discover German
Capital E, Civic Square, Wellington
Final three weeks!
This fabulous interactive exhibition from the Goethe-Institut about the German language leaves for Bangkok on Friday 24 September. Until then it is open daily from 10am to 5pm and offers the chance to learn your first German words, listen to popular and classical music - including English speaking performers singing one offs in German! - watch music videos, modern dance theatre performances and excerpts from German movies. You can take a stroll through the sound spiral and hear the sounds of life in Germany or watch highlights from 50 years of TV advertising in Germany. You can try to recognise the mouths of famous Germans, identify the origins of common words or guess the meanings of emoticons. There is plenty of hands on activity, a feast for the eye and the ear, and even gingerbread hearts to smell and taste. It's the next best thing to a ticket to Europe!
