Mittelmoda_the fashion award 2004 has 31 finalists:
4 from Eastern Europe selected in Brno_Czech Republic, August '04
11 awards and a scholarship in New Zealand on offer
This August Mittelmoda_the fashion award 2004 has closed the finalists' list at the international textile and clothing fair Styl/Kabo organised by the Brno Fair_Czech Republic. As a matter of fact, during a special evening dedicated to Mittelmoda, 12 semi-finalists coming from 8 countries in Eastern Europe showcased their collections in front of an international Jury which chose the four best collections.
Bulgaria.
Georgia.
These four will be showcasing on Mittelmoda's catwalk on 11th September in Grado_Gorizia ( Italy ) together with the already selected 27 collections, for a total number of 31 finalists from 27 countries. The Brno event sealed the first step of a partnership started last February between Brno Fair and Gorizia Trade Fair - the one organising Mittelmoda.
This cooperation will be further developed in Mittelmoda coming editions and its aim is to promote emerging talents coming from Eastern Europe , as the Director of the Czech Fair Jaroslav Hlousek and the General Director of Gorizia Trade Fair Maurizio Tripani underlined.
Nikolay Pachev_Bulgaria, Khatja Chomakashvili_Georgia, Lada Arzumanova_Russia, Wojciech Czapla & Dagmara Czarnecka_Poland are the talents selected who will run for the 10 awards on offer to all finalists, and also for the Mittelmoda Eastern Europe Meryl Award which is only dedicated to an Eastern European collection and is offered by Nylstar, the brand fostering the happening.
A brand new special prize donated by the school Otago Polytechnik_New Zealand was lately added to the awards already on offer: a 2-month-scholarship + Eur 2000 for the collection which most of all will show innovation in the use of materials and methods. Return flight ticket to New Zealand , lodging and school attendance at the Fashion College in the Otago Polytechnik in Dunedin are included, together with 1000 Eur per month (minimum stay 4 weeks; maximum stay 8 weeks).
Thanks to always new international collaborations Mittelmoda proves to be the first event ever aiming at promoting exchange and meeting between emerging talents and the fashion system.
