Tribute to Vera Lynn sparks overwhelming response
Auckland City has received an overwhelming response to the Tribute to Vera Lynn concert on 30 August.
To avoid disappointment, the event will now be ticketed to guarantee seating.
The tickets, which will still be free, will be available from Ticketek. Those wishing to attend or organising others to
attend should contact Mia Murray on (09) 307 5058 to discuss pickup or courier options from Tuesday 17 August. Seats are
limited and will be allocated on a “first come first served” basis.
One hundred seats will be reserved at the front for the VIPs who are selected through the Heritage Week competition as
Auckland's longest residing residents. The VIPs will receive their tickets by mail.
Doors will open at 11am for an 11.30am start. Volunteers, including Auckland City's ambassadors, will be on hand to
provide directions and to assist attendees to their seats.
It is recommended that attendees park in the Civic Carpark or, if there are mobility issues, have someone drop them off
outside the Town Hall using the bus stop areas (arrangements have been made to provide extra space).
St John’s Ambulance staff will be attending, offering their Caring Caller service and paramedic support should it be
needed.
The free concert is proudly sponsored by Auckland City and the Hobson Community Board, and is an acknowledgement of the
contribution Auckland’s senior citizens, returned servicemen and their families make to our community.
