The Search begins in Auckland, Greymouth and Morrinsville for the First Winning Wheel Winner
One lucky winner from the five Winning Wheel serial numbers announced on the Lotto draw tonight will be the first person
to spin to win a chance at $1 million next Saturday, says New Zealand Lotteries Commission (NZLC) Chief Executive Trevor
Hall.
The five winning tickets were sold at Green Bay Shell in Green Bay, Auckland, New World in Greymouth, Paper Plus in
Morrinsville, Chances in St Lukes, Auckland, and Pak & Save in Henderson, Auckland.
"The search is on to locate these five winners as soon as possible. All of them will get their chance to spin Lotto's
Winning Wheel, but only one of them can be the first," said Mr Hall.
"We're asking everyone who bought their ticket at any of these stores to check it against the winning serial numbers as
soon as they can. Every ticket bought for the 14 August draw has this fantastic second chance to win."
The winning ticket will be identified by the serial number which is located at the bottom right-hand corner of each
ticket.
If players didn't watch the draw, they can check their ticket by going to any Lotto store and running their ticket
through a terminal or by logging on to NZLC's website www.nzlotteries.co.nz and checking their ticket against the
winning five serial numbers.
"Once a ticket is identified, staff in all Lotto stores have been trained to put Lotto's Winning Wheel winners on the
phone to our staff," he said. "Winners can also contact us directly by calling 04 802 7000."
Holders of a winning ticket will also win a trip to Wellington with a friend or family member to spin Lotto's Winning
Wheel live on the Lotto draw. The winner will receive a "Winners Pack" that includes travel to Wellington, accommodation
at the Duxton Hotel, a meal with a Lotto presenter and an optional mini make-over.
"On Saturday they will spin Lotto's Winning Wheel to see which of the thirty segments carrying prizes ranging between
$25,000 and $1 million is theirs. The average prize is worth around $220,000 and non cash prizes include luxury cars,
dream holidays and a home and land package" said Mr Hall.
If winners don't want to appear on the draw, they can choose to nominate another person to appear on television and spin
the wheel for them. Winners can also choose not to spin and to take the $25,000 minimum prize in cash.
