A stylish night of swing and sophistication is promised for the second concert in the Auckland Philharmonia’s 2004 Telecom Pops series.
Tim Beveridge, who has established himself as one of New Zealand’s finest singers and concert performers, takes the stage with the Auckland Philharmonia on Friday, 27 August to perform some of the great standards from the 40s, 50s and 60s.
The stage is set for a big night out with songs such as The Lady is a Tramp, New York New York, Mack the Knife, I’ve Got You Under My Skin and Girl from Ipanema. Most of the songs are arrangements by the legendary Russ Garcia customised for Tim and the Auckland Philharmonia.
After reaching platinum sales in New Zealand with his first CD, Tim Beveridge has just recorded a new big band album on the Sony label in the US with the Buddy Childers Big Band. Arranged and conducted by Russ Garcia, the album will be launched to coincide with this concert and marks an exciting new direction for Tim. Prior to this he was recognised as one of the top voices in the world of musical theatre, winning places in the final of the world’s most prestigious musical theatre competition, the BBC Voice of Musical Theatre in Cardiff in both 2000 and 2002.
