Midday 28 July.
Who Shot Goofy?
A central exhibition character of the Great Disney Toy Exhibition, which opens in Wellington at the Michael Fowler Centre on August 4, may have been the "victim" of a real drive-by shooting.
The 5 foot high stuffed Goofy Doll, which until it was purchased as part of a huge collection last year, was resident in the laundry of the original owner in San Diego California.. When the room was cleared and items removed for packaging a bullet hole was clearly visible and believed to have occurred as either a drive-by or neighbourhood gun battle. The discovery lead to much speculation and rumour as the bullet had never been located. The owner’s family however recalled that the "victim" had been sitting directly against the window pane concerned and may hold the final answer to the mystery.
The WOW Trust and the Old Tin Toy Shop will be laying this myth or mystery to rest today. Rather than destroying the stuffed toy he will be taken to Wellingtons Wakefield Hospital to be x-rayed today.
