In 24 hours you must make a film no longer than 7 minutes in length with only in camera editing allowed and it must include 5 items selected by the organisers. It’s that simple.

This year the Newcastle, Australia Shoot Out attracted over 2000 filmmaker’s from all around Australia to compete in the only film festival that combines the tactics and discipline of survivor with the speed of the 100m finals in an arts event!
The Top 10 films from The Shoot Out Hamilton will be screened at the Awards Ceremony on Sunday 19 September at Founders Theatre. A mystery panel of judges will be on hand and the films will compete for prizes and top honours.
The top films will also be toured throughout New Zealand, Australia and the US, and the Best Film will screen in London at The Up Over Down Under Film Festival.
Ben Steel (Home and Away) says of the Shoot Out phenomenon:
“The atmosphere is just electrifying. Filmmaking is all about having a great idea, committing to it, getting out there and getting it up on screen, and The Shoot Out is the best forum for that. I can’t wait for it to kick off in Hamilton because it’s going to be just amazing!”
