Vodafone Backs The Warriors For Three More Years
The Warriors got some much-needed good news today, with confirmation that Vodafone will continue as the team’s major
sponsor for three more years.
The mobile telecommunications company said it was making the announcement early to show its ongoing commitment to the
Vodafone Warriors.
“Our support for the Warriors is built around the message of “faith” and we wanted to demonstrate that our faith in the
team is strong,” said Lynley Kirk-Smith, Vodafone’s general manager of company communications and sponsorship.
“They may not have had a great season this year but we’re sticking with them through thick and thin.”
Kirk-Smith said Vodafone was not due to announce its intentions with regard to renewal of its sponsorship for another
six months.
“However, we decided to bring our announcement forward in order to give the team some encouragement and certainty going
forward,” she said.
The new deal means Vodafone will continue as the Warriors’ key sponsor until at least November 2007.
Vodafone has been the naming rights sponsor of the team for the past six years and it had been a very successful
partnership, said Kirk-Smith.

“Whether they’re experiencing the winning seasons of 2002 and 2003 or this year’s bad patch, the Vodafone Warriors are
always exciting to watch.
“That’s why they have such a dedicated fan base who are with them all the way. Like those loyal followers, Vodafone
believes in living the faith so we’re giving the team our unconditional support.”
Kirk-Smith said the sponsorship of the Warriors had been a rewarding association which had benefited both parties, as
well as the fans.
