Yo-Yo Master To Visit New Zealand
US Yo-Yo Master Steve Brown is due to visit New Zealand this month signalling the start of what is expected to be a new Yo-Yo craze.
Brown (28), one of only nine Yo-Yo Masters in the world, will demonstrate his skills in a series of shows during the school holidays (11 July-16 July). The Duncan Yo-Yo show will be held at selected Westfield Malls in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington and Christchurch. He will be available for Media interviews from 7th July.
Brown was awarded the title of Yo-Yo Master by the International Yo-Yo Museum. The title is given to those who have made it to the top of the sport and have also made outstanding contributions to the advancement of Yo-Yoing. Brown invented and patented freehand-style Yo-Yo play, where the Yo-Yo is tied to a counterweight instead of a finger. Freehand play allows for exciting new extreme tricks and is a style that has spread worldwide.
A self taught Yo-Yoer, Brown is also a Director of Tricks and Rules for the World Yo-Yo Contest, and one of the main judges for the U.S. National Yo-Yo Contest. Brown is also the Marketing & Promotions Coordinator for Duncan Toys, and has designed well over a dozen products including Yo-Yos and trick books.
The last Yo-Yo craze hit New Zealand seven years ago with thousands of players around the country learning tricks such as ‘walk the dog’ and ‘around the world’. more The Duncan Yo-Yo show will take place at the following Westfield Malls:
