Imelda - the controversial documentary the former first lady wants banned to screen at NZ Film Festival.
The recent award winning documentary Imelda about the life of former First Lady Imelda Marcos will screen at the Telecom
New Zealand Film Festival.
A Philippines court has restrained press screenings of the documentary Imelda for 20 days after the former first lady
filled a petition on June 16 through her lawyer Robert Sison against the release of the documentary in the Philippines
which was set to be shown in the capital, Manilla, on July 7, stating that it's exhibition would result in her extreme
and irreparable injury and injustice".
The documentary, in which the 74 Year old widow of Former president Macosalso Marcos speaks unguarded to director Ramona
S Diaz about her life recently won best documentary at the Sundance Film Festival and has opened to favourable reviews
in New York.
Bill Gosden, Film Festival director says "Diaz (the director) has successfully applied the 'enough rope' principle
giving free rein to Imelda's 'charm' and her fatal attraction to the camera and her own loveliness"
The Asian -american director, Ramona S. Diaz will be a guest of the Telecom New Zealand International Film Festival's
and will speak at both her Auckland and Wellington screenings.
Imelda will screen in at the Telecom New Zealand International Film festivals in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and
Dunedin
