One More Cup Of Coffee For The Road
Sixteen teams from around New Zealand are about to hit the road in a competition to sample coffee in as many places as possible.
As part of the Starbucks Grande Road Trip, they will try and visit every one of the 35 stores in New Zealand within two weeks. The aim is to raise money for Youthline and they also stand to win a world trip for themselves.
Setting off from home on Monday (28 June) are teams such as ‘Team Elusive’ and ‘The Eh Team’.
Starbucks general manager Aasha Murthy said the trippers could travel about the country via any route or any transport mode.
“We don’t mind how they get about just so long as they visit as many Starbucks as possible within the deadline.
“The more stores they visit and the more money they raise, the more points they get towards the major prize – a trip to a Starbucks store of their choice anywhere in the world.”
With almost 8,000 Starbucks stores in 32 countries, the successful fundraisers will have a huge choice of destinations – from Beijing to London, Tokyo to Istanbul, or hundreds of cities in the USA including Seattle, the home of Starbucks.
Youthline Director Stephen Bell said the organisation was delighted with the initiative. “Starbucks has always been a very strong supporter of Youthline and we can’t wait to see who wins the Grande Road Trip.
“We’ll be following the teams’ progress closely and look forward to seeing how much money they can raise for our much-needed telephone service.”
Teams will be provided with packs that include maps, $200 petrol vouchers, branded t-shirts, car window stickers, Youthline fundraising buckets and more.
They’ve also been given digital cameras to record highlights of their trip, which will be posted on http://www.howfarwouldyougo.co.nz
“The Starbucks Grande Road Trip is a fantastic way to spend the university holidays – you get to see the country, have some fun, enjoy great coffee and raise money for a fantastic organisation,” said Murthy.
The Grande prize is worth up to $15,000.
