The design of the Art Deco period and its key influences of Africa, Geometry and Nature combine to create the summer 04/05 collection of Cybèle Wiren entitled Strange Interlude.
The range draws influence from the architectural and sculptural forms of the period; with Deco inspired geometric designs and clean curved lines found in necklines, yokes, hems and waistband detail.
Bold floral and animal prints mix with a colour palette of soft pastels; mint, grey-blue, and mauve, along with bright yellow, apple green and aqua. These tone back against a base of restrained greys and neutrals, whilst gold and black are used to accentuate.
Strange Interlude draws attention to the leg and neckline, with baby-doll and strapless mini dresses, floaty skirts, short shorts and leggings. Conscious of the female form, Cybèle highlights this with curved seam lines that skim the body to fit and shape.
Notable in Cybèle's previous seasons are garments with versatility (such as last Winter's reversible Narcissus bomber and skirt), and this season is no exception with the Astoria skirt and it's waistband strap that shortens to become a halter, enabling it to be worn as a top or mini dress.
Cybèle's design's have been seen in editorials in STAPLE, Fashion Quarterly, Style, ReMix and Pavement magazine, and also on Shortland Street and TV3's weather correspondent Toni Marsh.
Cybèle is currently stocked in 16 stores nationwide, as well as a new international addition: L'Orient in Brunei.
