The New Zealand Book Council and Random House NZ are pleased to announce an evening with writer, entrepreneur, traveller
and kidnap survivor Mary Quin.
Few people could remain unchanged after the petrifying ordeal of being kidnapped in a foreign country. Fewer people
could go on to write and speak about it; yet Mary Quin has managed to do so in her fascinating book 'Kidnapped in
Yemen'. It recounts her terrifying kidnapping, where four of her fellow prisoners are killed during the rescue.
Even more remarkable than this dramatic rescue is her resulting strength and determination to survive. Drawing on her
extensive background in business, travel and with a strong passion for women's rights, Quin is an inspiring speaker and
we are lucky to have her at a New Zealand Book Council event.
