Thunderstorms Prevent Racing At Laser Worlds

There was No Racing at Laser World Championships Overnight
Thunderstorms and fickle winds caused racing to be abandoned on the second to last day of the Laser World Championships
being held in Bitez, Turkey.
New Zealand’s Olympic representative, Hamish Pepper, lies in fourth position, ten points off 3rd position. However only
one point separates him from fifth position. Other New Zealanders at the regatta are: Andrew Murdoch who is in 26th
position, Michael Bullot is in 32nd position and Matthew Blakey is in 33rd position.
Strong winds are forecast for the last day so an earlier start has been scheduled in an attempt to get ten races in. A
second discard could then be applied.
At the top of the leader board is Robert Scheidt from Brazil, who is followed closely by Michael Blackburn from
Australia. Neither competitor can be caught by the others.
With 5 continents in the top ten there is still plenty of scope for place changing.
