NHNZ gets gig for 20 new episodes of the Most Extreme
The Most Extreme, NHNZ’s Emmy® nominated show, is back for its third series, and this time it’s bigger than ever.
The Most Extreme 3 will be a 20-episode series, with the first episode due to screen on Animal Planet in September 2004.
“With 20 all new episodes, The Most Extreme has just gotten more extreme and we’re looking forward to a totally new season here at Animal Planet,” says Kevin Mohs Executive Producer for Animal Planet.
This is not only the biggest Most Extreme yet, it will also be the wildest. Gross outs, wild parties, outrageous flirts and global conquerors will all be put to the test in a bid to discover who, or what, is the Most Extreme.
Following the format of the first two series, Most Extreme 3 is a fast-paced blend of animal facts, analogy, metaphor and the computer graphics that gained the show an Emmy® nomination in 2003.
According to NHNZ producer for the Most Extreme Ian McGee, the graphics allow animal abilities to be translated into “visual metaphors”.
“Some animals are able to clean their ears with their tongue; others have feet so long they can literally walk on water. By graphically depicting these extraordinary abilities it will hopefully give the audience a new appreciation of the natural world.”
The style is simple, colloquial, accessible and fun. Complicated topics are explained in ways that illuminate and entertain. There’s no baffling jargon. No earnest preaching. The natural history and scientific information is conveyed painlessly and effortlessly.
