May Movie Mayhem At Village Skycity Cinemas Next Month
Movie fans brace yourselves for May Movie Mayhem at Village SKYCITY Cinemas! In the cinematic challenge of a lifetime, contestants will be dared to view 48 hours of new release movies back to back. Instant prizes, valued at over a million dollars, will also be up for grabs with the “Watch, Stratch and Win” promotion with every movie ticket purchased throughout the month of May.
“Cinema Survival” will see 12 selected movie-goers taking part in a unique competition to try to stay awake for 48 hours watching a range of recent release movies at Village SKYCTIY Cinemas Queen Street on 21 May.
Auckland radio station Mai FM will be running the promotion on air to select the 12 entrants over a 3-week period beginning Saturday 01 May and running through to the Cinema Survival event on 21 May.
Village SKYCITY Cinemas Chief Executive Joe Moodabe says the unique challenge is something fun but also quite a challenge for movie fans.
“The Watch Scratch and Win promotion gives our patrons added value in the overall cinema going experience,” he says.
Contestants will be provided with complimentary refreshments and scheduled breaks – 15 minutes will be given in between each of the 22 films (on average every two hours). Village SKYCITY Cinemas will ensure duty managers trained in health and safety procedures are on hand at all times. The rules of the competition are relatively simple – entrants are not allowed to go so sleep (close their eyes other than to blink) during the movie marathon period.
The major prize for the Cinema Survival challenge is free entry to movies for an entire year at any Village SKYCITY Cinema (with a partner). Cinema Survival entrants can opt out of the competition at any stage. If all contestants complete the challenge and are awake at the end of the 48-hour competition period, they will each win the major prize.
Cinema Survival entrants must be over the age of 16. This is the legal age to not require a guardian and some R16 movies will be played. Movies featured during the Cinema Survival challenge will include a variety of recent film releases – Matrix Revolutions, Charlies Angels Full Throttle, A League of Extraodinary Gentlemen, Bad Boys 2 and Legally Blonde 2.
As well as Cinema Survival, May Movie Mayhem will provide cinematic fun for every single movie-goer to a Village SKYCITY Cinema throughout the month of May with fun promotions, instant prizes and travel prizes up for grabs with every cinema ticket purchased.
All cinema-goers throughout May will be in to win one of a million dollars worth of prizes ranging from complimentary movie tickets, Burger King vouchers, Sky Tower passes, DVDs and X-box games when they Watch, Scratch and Win with the complimentary scratch ticket they will receive with every movie ticket purchased.
Every Watch and Win scratchy card either provides a two in three chance of an instant prize or a second chance to win one of six Air NZ Mystery Breaks for two by text message entry.
Village SKYCITY Cinemas are located in Hamilton and Auckland (Broadway Newmarket, Highland Park Pakuranga, Manukau, West City Henderson, Westgate, St Lukes and Queen Street – Auckland City).
Village SKYCITY Cinemas is a joint venture between Village Roadshow and SKYCITY Leisure.
