Excellent Day of Racing for Kiwi’s at the ISAF World Ranking Regatta.
It was another excellent day of racing for the Kiwi’s at the ISAF World ranking regatta, in Hyeres France, with New
Zealand’s Olympic Representatives – Tom Ashley now leading the Mistral Class and Sarah Macky 2nd in the Europe Class.
Macky showed brilliant form, winning all three of the day’s races in the Europe Class, along with Ashley, who finished
the day’s racing with a win and has consistently finished in the top 5 of every race.
In the men’s 470, Simon Cooke and Alistair Gair also won another race and currently lie in 4th position. Our Olympic
Laser Representative, Hamish Pepper had top five places in his races and is currently in 5th position.
Climbing the leader board in other classes is Dean Barker, who lies 11th in the Finns, and the Yngling team – Alesha
Thorpe, Karen Lambert and Michelle Vinsen, lie in 9th position after 6 races.
New Zealand’s Finn and the Yngling team’s will be using this regatta as a major build up event for their selection
trials next month. Dean Barker is currently leading the Kiwi men in the Finn Class at this regatta and also leading the
selection trials. And in the hotly contested Yngling Class, Alesha Thorpe and her team are edging out ahead from Sharon
Ferris and her team at this regatta.

There was no racing at the Star Worlds in Italy due to lack of wind. New Zealand’s Rohan Lord and Andrew Taylor
currently lie in 7th place.
