This month is your last chance to see the phenomenally popular Dinosaurs from China exhibition. We say goodbye to these awesome fossil skeletons on April 12. Later in the month another exhibition closes - Wings: Nature's flying machines | Hua rere a te taiao. April is full of events and occasions. On April 9, 10, & 11 Te Papa hosts The Earth Rocks! Earthquake Awareness Weekend. Enjoy free earthquake-related events, activities, and displays. There's civil defence and emergency services demonstrations and activities, the 'EQC Quake Safe House', DIY demonstrations 'how to make your home safer in earthquakes', guest appearances by Suzy Cato, tours of Quake Braker and Awesome Forces exhibits, and much more! After Easter, it's straight into the school holidays, and, as ever, Te Papa offers something to entertain young folk during the break ... Kids can hear tales from a master storyteller

Saturday 3 1pm-2pm: Chameleon. Jazz band trio. Wellington Foyer, Level 2. Free entry.
Sunday 4 1pm-4pm: Greater Wellington Marine Model Club demo and display. See model boats in action! Amphitheatre and Lagoon, Level 1. (If wet, there'll be a static display in the Wellington Foyer, Level 2.) Free entry.
Friday 9 11am-3pm: The Earth Rocks! Earthquake Awareness Weekend @ Te Papa. Join us for free earthquake-related events, activities, and displays. Throughout Te Papa. Free entry. 12 noon-1pm: Dinosaurs from China floortalk with Dr Hamish Campbell. The TOWER Gallery, Level 4. Exhibition entry charges apply.

Tuesday 13 Pacific Moana Day @ Te Papa: 10am-5pm, PlaNet Pasifika, Level 4. 10am-11am: Make a moana (Ocean) badge or moana headband. Cost $2. 11am-12 noon & 3pm-4pm: Make a lolly lei. Cost $2. 12 noon-1pm: Manino Dance Troupe. Come and dance to the music then have a go on the drums. Prizes to be won! Free entry. 1pm-2pm: Pacific storytelling. Come and hear Pacific Island storytellers, and join in with some Pacific Island songs. Dress-ups and photo opportunities too. Free entry. 2pm-3pm: 'Whale migration in the Pacific'. A fascinating show and tell session with Grace Hutton, Te Papa's Collection Manager Pacific. Then colour in your own whale. Free entry. 4pm-5pm: Play Pacific games and win prizes. Play 'Lafo', 'Fiti', and 'Find the feke'. Prizes for each game! Free entry. All day: Enter a colouring competition, and go in the draw to win a Te Papa Treasure Store voucher. Free entry.

Friday 16 12.30pm-1pm & 2.30pm-3pm: Whanganui Iwi St. Vincent's Kapa Haka. Wellington Foyer, Level 2. Free entry. 1pm-1.25pm & 1.30pm-1.55pm: Deirdre Tarrant Dance Theatre presents "Enough is enough". A lively, colourful and fun ballet danced by children for the young at heart, inspired by "Enough is enough", written by children's book award finalists for 2004, Jenna Packer and Scott Willis. The Marae, Level 4. Free entry.
Saturday 17 12.30pm-1pm & 2.30pm-3pm: Whanganui Iwi St. Peter Chanel Kapa Haka. Wellington Foyer, Level 2. Free entry. Sunday 18 12.30pm-1pm: Flamenco Fusion Trio. All original compositions with an exotic blend of Polynesian, Latin, and Eastern influences. The Marae, Level 4. Free entry. 2pm-3pm: Discovery Hour: Manutukutuku (kites). Hey Kids! Join Te Papa's Collection Manager Mäori, Awhina Tamarapa, to discover the manutukutuku of yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Then learn how to make your very own manutukutuku. Te Huka ä Tai, Level 4. Free entry.
Monday 19 12 noon-12.45pm: Magicadabra! Join Zappo the Magician and his assistant Zappolina for a fun, interactive show. The Marae, Level 4. Free entry.
Wednesday 21 1pm-2pm: 'Wings in nature & the human imagination.' An exciting floortalk and full tour of the Wings exhibition, with Sandy Bartle, Te Papa's Curator of Birds. Meet by the floortalk poster at the entrance to Wings, Level 3. Free entry.
Friday 23 11am-11.30am & 1pm-1.30pm: Storytelling with Dick Weir. Hear stories of fantastical flights of fancy with Master storyteller Dick Weir.The Marae, Level 4. Free entry.
Saturday 24 1pm-2pm: Ei Tiare. Cook Island Culture Group. Wellington Foyer, Level 2. Free entry.
Sunday 25 Wings: Nature's flying machines | Hua rere a te taiao exhibition closes! ANZAC DAY 1pm-1.45pm: Wellington Hawkes Bay Regiment Band. Wellington Foyer, Level 2. Free entry. 2pm-3.15pm: New Zealand's Great War on Film. The Film Archive presents a selection of ten titles, drawn from its collection of First World War films, predominantly dating from between 1914 and 1918 but also including a 1921 Anzac Day parade in Dunedin. Live piano accompaniment to the screening will be provided by Sue Alexander. Introduced by Steve Russell from The New Zealand Film Archive. Programme curated in association with the Royal New Zealand Returned Services' Association. Soundings Theatre, Level 2. Free entry.
Thursday 29 6.30pm-7.30pm: Govett Brewster Lecture - Kentaro Ichihara. Leading Japanese art critic and writer Kentaro Ichihara from Tokyo will discuss contemporary Japanese art in relation to global exhibition culture. Ichihara is on the board of the new Mori Art Museum, Tokyo and is the Japanese correspondence for the UK art magazine FRIEZE. The Marae, Level 4. Free entry
SHORT-TERM EXHIBITIONS:
Dinosaurs from China Take this rare opportunity to see some of the world's largest and finest dinosaur skeletons. Marvel at huge fossil skeletons - the largest measures 24 metres long - that date back over 150 million years to the Jurassic Period. See gigantic, lumbering sauropods and vicious meat-eating predators such as the terrifying Yangchuanosaurus, a Chinese relative of Tyrannosaurus rex. Closes 12 April 2004. Adults $9.50, children (4-14 years) $4.50. Family concessions available.
Signs and Wonders | He Tohu He Ohorere An exhibition exploring through multiple cultural viewpoints and spiritual traditions, the ways in which people express ideas of supernatural encounters. Key New Zealand artists represented include Colin McCahon, Ralph Hotere, Rita Angus, John Pule, Julia Morison, Don Driver, Milan Mrkusich, and Tony Fomison. Until September 2004. The Free entry.
Te Awa Tupua: The Whanganui Iwi Exhibition In partnership with Te Papa, Whanganui iwi present stories and taonga from their unique Whanganui river culture, from Te Kähui Maunga (the mountain clan) to Tangaroa (the sea). The exhibition's central theme is contained in the whakatauakï (proverb), 'E rere kau mai te awa nui mai Te Kähui Maunga ki Tangaroa, ko au te awa ko te awa ko au.' (The great river flows from the mountain clan to Tangaroa, I am the river; the river is me). Until May 2006. Free entry.
Kiri's Dresses: A glimpse into a Diva's wardrobe Dresses from Dame Kiri Te Kanawa's wardrobe and her memories of them give an intimate glimpse into the life of a world-famous lyric soprano. Until September 2004. Free entry.
Wings: Nature's flying machines | Hua rere a te taiao A rich investigation of flight in the natural world and people's ingenuity with wings. Explore the marvels of flying, highlighted by hands-on interactives and stunning audio-visuals. Closes 25 April 2004. Free entry.
Aainaa: reflections through Indian weddings Created by Te Papa in partnership with New Zealand Indian communities, this exhibition explores the wedding ritual to show both traditional and modern experiences of marriage. Featured until September are the wedding rituals of the Muslim community. Until September 2004. Free entry.
Images of Prosperity: Bernard Roundhill's Commercial Art Images of Prosperity introduces the work of Bernard Roundhill, founding father of commercial art in New Zealand. In creating some of our most famous brands, Roundhill was also shaping our national identity. Free entry.
