The Boost Mobile NZ MC Battle for Supremacy National Final
This Saturday 27th March, 16 of the country’s top MC’s will battle it out for the Boost Mobile NZ MC Battle for
Supremacy National title at Galatos in Auckland.
Finalists from the regional battles staged in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin will travel to Auckland to
go mic-to-mic against each other in the toughest national MC battle the country has seen. It will be a no-holds-barred,
3 hour session of the most intense freestyle action from NZ’s finest up and coming MCs.
Organiser JC aka Wordperfect, said Tyna Keena’s demolishment of all MCs at the Auckland regional event was the most
complete exhibition he'd ever seen in NZ. Wordperfect puts Tyna up as top seed for the National Title.
“We had an incredibly high standard in the Regionals this year,” said JC. “The National title is going to be a hard
fought out battle. We can expect some awesome freestyle rap skills and an explosive atmosphere on Saturday night.
Battles always get people’s emotions running high.”
MC Battles date back as far as the 70’s when hip hop evolved in the Bronx, New York. The thrill of the battle is in its
humor, showmanship and risqué spontaneity. Off the top of the head, lyrical counter punches will be flying all night,
with a no holds barred attitude. There can be only one winner!
As a further sign of their commitment to NZ Music, Boost Mobile is supporting the competition this year. Marketing
Manager Tania Bui said “Boost Mobile is keen to support and foster emerging talent in New Zealand and we see the MC
Battle for Supremacy as an ideal platform to do this. It is an art-form that allows free and spontaneous expression and
Boost Mobile is all about hooking people up, giving them a voice and allowing them to express themselves freely.”
Don’t miss out on the toughest national final for the MC Battle For Supremacy New Zealand has ever seen.
