7. Off the Wire is into it's sixth series on Radio 101FM and has proven to be one of the most popular comedy programmes on the station. It's blend of satire and dry lampooning of current events make for an hilarious, and often shocking event.
8. Wellington Improvisation Troupe (WIT) presents Gorilla Theatre: It's bigger than King Kong! GORILLA is the New Zealand premiere of the heavyweight improvised comedy show devised by improvising legend, Keith Johnstone. WIT's leading improvisers direct scenes without a script and compete to entertain the audience. The winning director takes home the ultimate prize – the troupe's resident GORILLA!
9. Barbie is Dead NZ's only all female improvised comedy show will be performing in Auckland at the Covert theatre, www.coverttheatre.com, for 4 nights: 19-22 May at 9.30pm. They also have their own 4-week season at the Covert, post-festival from June3-26 at 8pm.
10. Butterfly Creek Theatre off to Stratford (on-Patea that is, not on-Avon!) The Butterfly Creek Theatre Troupe's acclaimed All's Well that Ends Well? production has been invited to tour as part of the two play mini-festival of outdoor Shakespeare on Stratford on Saturday April 3. This marks a further step for the annual Bard in Yard production which started eight years ago as staged readings in the director's back yard and has been performed in the Muritai School Yard as a part of the past three Fringe festivals. 11. Salad Bones... arse lickin spoken word with hogg phlappin beats. Winners of the Fringe Spirit Award, The Sk8board Poets will join forces with fellow members of the Word Collective (magellan, word festival, speakeasy) and musicians from bands including rhombus, paselode and sstimuluss for an experimental live collaboration to celebrate their cd release - a fusion of spoken word and music by Wellington artists. when & where?
