Dappled Cities Fly Out Today
Hello again,
Things have descended into a bit of busyness up here at Arch Hill HQ...including the following Dappled Cities Fly CDEP released - Today! Ghostplane Gigs Sonya Fang Waters on Musical Chairs
Dappled Cities Fly - Wimbo Park - Seven Track CDEP We are pleased that today is the release of Arch Hill first offshore project, Sydney indie band Dappled Cities Fly. The band came to our attention via their enthusiast/manager Helen Chilman - who dropped by the studios sometime last year while investigating the NZ music landscape. She also enlightened us to another world of excellent Australian Indie stuff while she was at it...
The EP has seven tracks, including Triple JJJ favorite 'Be Engine', and 'Corpus Kinaesthesia', which you may have heard on some B-net stations in NZ. Other tracks include spun out karate grunts, lyrics about paintbrushes in hell, rhythmically complex instrumentation and a Supergrass-fighting-Alfie-and The-Kings Of Convenience-in-a-Sandpit kind of noise.
Last year they independently released several EPs in Australia and a blazing trail of great live reviews followed as they traveled up and down the coast, drawing comparisons to the likes of Television and Built To Spill. Or perhaps a cross of early Pavement and an episode of Sesame Street! Take your pick, but in any case you folks (in NZ) will also get the chance to have a bit of the action when they tour in April...we will give you the details of those gigs shortly. Dappled cities fly are currently recording a debut album, with producer Jonathan Burnside (The Sleepy Jackson) at the helm.
