Skycity Celebrates Launch Of The 2004 Blues Rugby Season
Auckland rugby fans can meet their favourite Super 12 team players at a free launch party and autograph signing session at SKYCITY Auckland tomorrow Wednesday (03 March 2004).
The entertainment kicks off in SKYCITY’s main atrium entrance from 4pm and continues through to 8pm including a live More FM broadcast, Maori and Polynesian performances, appearances by the SKYCITY Blues Cheer team as well as giveaways and prizes including posters, complimentary polaroid photos with favourite team players and free game tickets.
SKYCITY Executive Manager, Marketing and Entertainment, Jill Birch, says the entertainment has been put on to celebrate the start of the 2004 Blues rugby season and provide an opportunity for Aucklanders to show their support for their home team.
“This will be the first opportunity for fans, young and old, to meet the team before their first home game at Eden Park this weekend (Friday 05 March) when they take on the Waikato Chiefs from 7:35pm,” says Ms Birch.
“SKYCITY has been a proud supporter of Auckland rugby since the complex opened in 1996 and we wish our home team all the very best for another thrilling and successful Super 12 season,” she says.
As well as being a key sponsor, SKYCITY Auckland will host the Blues team at Bar3 (level 3 SKYCITY) after every home game of the season. Sky Tower will be especially lit up blue and SKYCITY’s New City Bar (main gaming floor) and Bar3 will screen all the games live on the giant screens throughout the Super 12.
For away games, the SKYCITY cheer team will be on site to perform at half time in the New City Bar and grand stands will be set up to give rugby fans the next best experience to actually being there.
Last year (2003) SKYCITY Auckland signed a new three and a half year sponsorship deal with Auckland Rugby to become a key sponsor of the Blues rugby team and the major sponsor of the NPC Auckland rugby team. The sponsorship deal will run through to the end of 2006.
