There’s a Rainforest Rumble
at Auckland Zoo this Saturday!
Get ready to join in the wild fun and monkey business happening this Saturday (10am – 1pm) at Auckland Zoo’s ‘Newstalk
ZB Rainforest Rumble’.
We’re celebrating big time with Newstalk ZB, the new sponsors of the zoo’s diverse and lush rainforest exhibit.
“Everyone’s favourite entertainer and animal lover, Suzy Cato, will be here to perform two special shows. There’ll be
Newstalk ZB hosts, and of course, the chance to discover and learn about all our rainforest animals,” says Jackie
Sanders, Auckland Zoo Events Co-ordinator. “And you never know who else you just might meet as you roam through our
rainforest.”
From 10am, grown ups and kids can be part of the special guided adventure tour through the rainforest (departing
regularly from the Newstalk ZB Rainforest entrance) where you’ll find tarantulas, spider monkeys, chameleons, siamang
gibbons, tamarins and more! You can also meet radio personalities, including the famous ‘Bug Man’ Ruud Kleinpaste,
who’ll have plenty to tell you about his favourite rainforest ‘bugs’ – and maybe even some to show you!
Be sure to take in one of the spider monkey encounters, as well as the many other ‘Eye to Eye’ encounters on offer,
including another rainforest primate, the orangutan. We’ve got lots of cool spot prizes and give-aways, and kids, you
can even become a rainforest creature yourself by getting your face painted ($1 per child) by Carmel’s Face Painters.
Newstalk ZB General Manager Bill Francis says, "Newstalk ZB is proud to be joining forces with one of the city's
best-loved icons. We're looking forward to presenting an exciting array of family and evening events with the zoo,
starting this Saturday as we launch the Newstalk ZB Rainforest with our hosts, lots of give-aways and fun for the
family."
