Allcock takes over Olympic security
Inspector Gary Allcock has taken over the New Zealand Police Security Liaison role with the Athens 2004 Olympic Team.
New Zealand Police has provided a security liaison officer previously for the 2000 Sydney Olympics and the 2002 Manchester Commonwealth.
While the original nominee for this role was Superintendent Kelvin Powell, it is now appropriate for Inspector Allcock to take this function through to, and including, the Athens Games.
Inspector Allcock was the security liaison officer for the successful Commonwealth Games in Manchester during 2002 and is well known to both the Olympic Team Managers Group and athletes.
Inspector Allcock’s appointment was welcomed by Chef de Mission Dave Currie when advised of the change this week end.
