Mayor of Hutt City Welcomes IWT
The mayor of Hutt City, the Hon. John Terris, was one of many on hand to welcome the over-200 members of Impact World
Tour to the city during a powhiri ceremony held at Lower Hutt Town Hall at 3:30pm on Sunday afternoon, 8th February.
"We are delighted to have you in our midst," he said, and went on to express his confidence that the IWT events in Hutt
City and Wellington will have a positive influence on the local community.
Other welcoming speakers included United Future MP Murray Smith, Director of Prison Fellowship Ministries Kim Workman
and John Jamieson, the former police commissioner of NZ who is currently serving as co-chair of the IWT Wellington
executive committee. Mr Jamieson greeted the team members with enthusiasm, saying, "We're looking forward to this
tremendously."
Impact World Tour has already performed to over 35,000 New Zealanders across the country during the first stages of its
nationwide tour. The free shows are a mixture of talented and fast-paced performances combined with multimedia displays.
All three teams feature professional performers from countries around the globe, including New Zealand, Canada, Brazil,
and the United States who share a positive message of hope and destiny with their audiences.
Now beginning its Hutt Valley leg, IWT will appear at various venues and stadiums this week, putting together a
stunning, action-packed display for crowds.
Team Xtreme International will amaze crowds with their strength as they flip cars, shatter flaming stacks of concrete
bricks, tear phonebooks in half and perform many other breathtaking feats.
Island Breeze is a cultural extravaganza, weaving together Maori and Pacific Island-influenced dance - from the strength
of the Haka to the skill of the Samoan fireknife dance.
GX International brings together young men and women from seven different countries who perform aggressive skating and
BMX manoeuvres, as well as the very latest in hip-hop and breakdance grooves.
Also part of GX International is the outstanding Freestyle Motocross Team who will perform daredevil stunts and
displays, led by top New Zealand female motocross rider, Mary Perkins.
