Te Hau and Ferris began singing and songwriting together with Gisborne Group 'Nga Tuahine', where they performed as part of Magdalena Aotearoa's "Not Broadcast Quality" cabaret series 1997.
Nga Tuahine then co-devised "Te Whare Korowai". Hit of the 1999 Magdalena Aotearoa International Womens Festival of Performance.
They were then asked to devise a comedy show for Paekakariki's Comedy Soup Evening along side Pinky Agnew and co. Enter "TE COASTIES COME TO TOWN". The satire and original music didnt end there, they performed 2 seasons of "Hens Teeth", Womens Comedy Collective, with the likes of Lorae Parry and Dame Kate Harcourt.
Apart from regular singing gigs for Huia Publishers book launches, performing in Suburban Islands parts 1 & 2, working full time, caring for children Te Hau and Ferris's music can be heard on the following albums: HAUNUI, HE KARANGA, HE POUNAMU, HE WAI.
Te Coasties have now brought a 90minute show of comedy, music, visual images and guest artists. Opening on February 27 & 28, 7pm doors open, 8pm start. $10 & $15 at Bluenote.

"Riotous duo' Te Coasties' (Dale Ferris and Rapai Te Hau) gave a hilarious glimpse of East Coast Maori girls, or is that boys - they're so tough! Think Maori Topp Twins on weed? Cher Baye! Down from the 'coast' to play in the big smoke, (outside Deka in Cuba Mall, Wellington, Aotearoa), the slapdang hardened 'Bayes' get out of their depth dealing with cafes, falafels and lattes. Cher girls"
