WELLINGTON'S OWN BROOKE FRASER TO PERFORM AT BOWIE CONCERT
New Zealand's latest female singing sensation, Brooke Fraser, will play the support act for David Bowie’s only NZ concert at Westpac Stadium, Wellington on February 14th.
Brooke's album ‘WHAT TO DO WITH DAYLIGHT’ debuted at # 1 in NZ's national album chart and has just gone double platinum.
She wrote all 11 tracks on the album and cites her key musical influences as Marvin Gaye, James Taylor and John Mayer.
Educated at Naenae College. Wellington, Brooke studied piano at age 7, taught herself guitar at 16 and wrote her first hit single when she was in 7th form.
Westpac Stadium Marketing Manager Steven Thompson said that the Stadium was delighted that Brooke was selected to support Bowie.
"Already at 20 years she is an incredible talent who writes beyond her years and is posed for a long a stellar career" said Mr Thompson "The fact that she is one of Wellington's own just puts the icing on what will be a magical event for the City."
Brooke will perform a 40-minute set with her full band.
This week 4,000 new seats were released for fans wishing to attend the David Bowie concert. Tickets can be purchased at all Ticketek outlets and online at ticketek.co.nz.
