Change of plans for Christchurch Garden Festival
The Christchurch Garden Festival planned for this year will now be held in 2005.
Members of the New Zealand Garden Festival Trust, who have been organising the event, met Christchurch Mayor Garry Moore today to discuss the decision.
“We are all in agreement that the New Zealand Garden Festival Trust should take more time to ensure that this festival truly reflects Christchurch’s special position as the Garden City of New Zealand,” Mr Moore says.
On 16 February, the Trust’s interim chairperson, Pamela Williams, and Mr Moore will co-chair a Garden Festival Trust meeting with the Garden City Advisory Group as part of the Trust’s ongoing consultation process.
