New Editor for Cuisine
Editor, author and food enthusiast, Simon Wilson has been appointed editor of Cuisine magazine
Wilson is currently managing editor of Consumers’ Institute of New Zealand. He has edited Consumer magazine for the past twelve years and has been responsible for Consumer Online, Consumer Books and Consumer Gardening magazine.
Kate Coughlan, editor in chief – lifestyle publications at Fairfax Magazines, says they are delighted that someone with Simon’s credentials is joining the team.
“Simon has maintained one of the biggest circulation magazines in the country, developing new initiatives and setting and retaining high standards of delivery. He brings a wealth of experience to the role of editor at Cuisine and his professionalism and innate understanding of the sophistication of the New Zealand foodie will be invaluable in leading Cuisine in its continuous quest for excellence,” says Kate.
Simon is also a published novelist and has written award winning drama for television. His love of books, theatre and film is balanced with his love of outdoors and unwinding in front of the cooktop.
Simon says he is looking forward to working with some of the very best food and wine writers in the country.
“I am thrilled to have the chance to edit one of New Zealand’s most prestigious magazines. Over the past twenty years our relationship with food has undergone a revolution and Cuisine has played a defining role in that. My own approach is to relax and enjoy myself in the kitchen – and hope to produce something that tastes great at the end of it. I think these values are widely shared and they are certainly reflected in Cuisine’s recipes,” says Simon.
Almost 50 applications were received for the editor’s role from New Zealanders around the world. Simon takes up his role on 1 March.
