FILM FANS' FOOD FEEDS FURRY FRIENDS
Large numbers of happily wagging dog tails and contently purring pusses are the expected result from special screenings
across New Zealand of the film "Good Boy".
Approximately 10,000 tins and packets of petfood were collected in 47 participating cinemas when the film was premiered
on Wednesday 14th January.
"We are very grateful to Twentieth Century Fox, who released the film and came up with this wonderful idea of asking
every member of the audience to provide some petfood as part of the price of admission. It's a very helpful gesture
which is much appreciated," says the Royal New Zealand SPCA's Chief Executive, Peter Blomkamp.
"We'd also like to give a big vote of thanks to the cinemas taking part as well as to the Classic Hits Network, which
persuaded so many of its listeners to come along to this special showing. And, of course, we'd like to thank the
thousands of animal-loving New Zealanders who supplied the petfood," he adds.
Classic Hits' Promotions Manager Holly Dunn says the radio network was delighted to be part of the promotion.
"It was a great way to launch the film Good Boy whilst raising our listeners awareness of the SPCA's need for donations.
The film and the cause appealed to all ages and for all animal lovers, so it tied in perfectly which is why it was such
an enormous success.
"At the screening, the kids were especially keen to tell you how much they'd donated and what pets they had. Classic
Hits were thrilled to support this event," she says.
