Paul Holmes Involved In Air Incident

Published: Fri 16 Jan 2004 05:31 PM
Broadcaster Paul Holmes has clarified reports that he was involved in an air incident on Wednesday.
Paul Holmes was flying his Bi-Plane on Wednesday from Taupo to Hastings when cloud began to build up ahead of him.
After assessing the situation, Holmes made the sensible decision to land his plane as a precautionary measure.
"It was a controlled and planned landing. There was no danger to my life. I made the decision to land the plane purely as a precautionary measure and I walked away from the aircraft completely unhurt." Holmes said.
Holmes said that his plane had suffered some damage, but it would be repaired.
"When I told my Mum about the precautionary landing she lamented that I hadn't taken up the piano instead of flying!"
Holmes has paid thanks to the workers of Ngamatea Station, who gave him a cup of coffee and a ride to Napier after the incident.
