The participants for the Vodafone id Dunedin Fashion Show on Saturday 13 March 2004 have been announced.
The Vodafone id Dunedin Fashion Show will feature eleven sections showing ten labels from Dunedin’s high profile and internationally respected fashion industry, along with the group section of three emerging designers.
The selected labels are Aduki, Akimbo, Carlson, Charmaine Reveley, BurtenShaw, FIEKE, Mild Red, Nom* D, Philippa Beaton, and Toni Darling.
The special group section features upcoming designers Joan Leach, Kalya Sowden and Katie King, all recent graduates of the highly regarded School of Fashion at Otago Polytechnic.
The show enters its fifth year building on the successes of past id Dunedin events and will once again be held at the imposing and historic Dunedin Railway Station.
The Dunedin fashion scene was described as "very dark and gothic" (Wallpaper magazine, 2001) and as being on "New Zealand’s new fashion frontier" (Australian Harpers Bazaar, 2002).
The Vodafone id Dunedin Fashion Weekend is being taken to a new level in 2004 with several days of fashion events leading up to the Vodafone id Dunedin Fashion Show on the evening of Saturday 13 March 2004.
id Dunedin Committee chairperson Susie Staley says in recognition of the range of Dunedin design talent, the extensive programme for 2004 features more events than ever.
"We are pleased to say this is shaping up to be the biggest and brightest Dunedin fashion event yet" says Ms. Staley.
Vodafone sponsorship portfolio manager Lisa Dowling says "There is immense enthusiasm for the annual show and as new naming sponsor, we’re excited to be part of such a highly regarded event that showcases innovative design from homegrown talent."
Tanya Carlson says "The upcoming Vodafone id Dunedin Fashion Show will be the first time Carlson has shown its Winter 04 collection to the media and public."
Event Manager Annemarie Mains says a large amount of work has already gone on behind the scenes in preparation for a vibrant 2004 show.
The week leading up to the Vodafone id Dunedin Fashion Weekend 2004 sees Dunedin celebrate fashion with a range of retail shows, promo events, seminars and workshops with the Vodafone id Dunedin Fashion Show on the evening of Saturday 13 March.
All the labels featured in the show can be purchased in Dunedin’s retail outlets.
Tickets will be available at Ticketek in 2004.
