An online e-Minister is just one of many new features on the new Presbyterian Church website, launched today. The service is believed to be the first of its kind in New Zealand.
The website address is: http://www.presbyterian.org.nz/
e-Minister is a key feature. Anyone can email the e-minister, a net-savvy Presbyterian minister with any questions about life, faith and the Church. There are four e-Ministers, two men and two women from both North and South Islands. "Through e-Minister we are providing a friendly confidential way to engage with the Church," said Mr Davis. Users can expect a reply within 48 hours.
The service may appeal to people unable or unwilling to contact a minister in person, or who are away from home.
"It is part of providing an accessible welcoming face for the Church, where newcomers and established Christians of any denomination can have a conversation on their terms."
Supporting e-Minister is new introductory material to the Church and Christian spirituality. A special section on "New to Faith" was developed by Dr Kevin Ward, lecturer in Mission Leadership and Ministry from the Church's School of Ministry in Dunedin.
