The Christmas Party at the zoo will be wild!
A Christmas choir, Christmas DJ, fairies, pixies, treks along the LEGO Zulu Warrior Trail and to Fairy Island, and of course SANTA and his elves, are just some of the exciting activities at Auckland Zoo’s Christmas Party on Saturday, 20 December (5pm – 9pm).
So bring the whole family and come and join hosts Saturday Disney crew members Chloe, James and Julie for an awesome Christmas evening in our magical animal kingdom.
“We’ve got all the wonderful traditional festivities like Christmas carols, singing and dancing, and a special appearance by Santa, for which we’re asking everyone to bring a candle to light up for his grand entrance at 7.30pm. But there’s also some new and exciting activities,” says Jackie Sanders, the zoo’s Events Co-ordinator.
The LEGO Zulu Warrior Trail from Hippo River will lead party-goers through Pridelands to discover the mysteries of the African savannah in the company of an exotic Zulu guide, and there’s a special LEGO present for all participants. In a totally different adventure, Fairyclare will take children and adults on a journey of enchantment to our ‘Fairy’ Island.
Carmel’s face painters will be on hand to transform children into whatever they want to be (cost $1)! And everyone can sing and dance to their Christmas favourites with our special Christmas DJ Nick Logan.
Watch out for some ‘characters’! Scrooge thinks the whole thing is ’humbug’ but he’ll be here anyway, and Peter Pan says Christmas at the zoo will be “an awfully big adventure”. The Bluebird penguins will also be present, with heaps of tasty give-aways. Reed Publishing will also have some very special giveaways to make your Christmas holidays special.
Shopping at the zoo!
You can also buy some great Christmas presents from the zoo’s Wild Zone Gift Shop, some special arts and crafts stalls, and an elephant-sized second-hand book stall being organised by the zoo’s Conservation Fund – a fantastic opportunity to stock up on holiday reading!
Make a night of it! Bring a picnic or purchase dinner from Darwin’s Café where both kids and grown-ups will be well catered for.
Normal zoo admission prices apply. Friends of the zoo members receive a 20 per cent discount on entry after 4.15pm.
