Skycity Set To ‘Razzle Dazzle’ This Christmas And New Year
There’ll be no doubting the season this December with the annual red and green festive lighting of Sky Tower every night from December 1 – 26 2003 and a host of Christmas and New Year entertainment on offer at SKYCITY Auckland throughout the month.
Visitors to the complex will be greeted by carol singers from the National Youth Choir (from 13 – 24 December) singing beneath the two storey high ornately decorated Christmas tree, once again taking pride of place on the Atrium level (main entrance, ground floor).
This year the special themed lighting of Sky Tower is dedicated to Kidz First Children’s Hospital Burns and Plastics Unit – one of the charities supported by SKYCITY.
SKYCITY Auckland’s five restaurants will feature special Christmas menus with all the trimmings and the added benefit of no fuss (no cooking or cleaning). Bookings at Orbit revolving restaurant are filling fast for a delicious Christmas lunch and dinner menu with unsurpassed city and harbour views. A Chinese instrumental duo will entertain guests at a special Christmas dinner on 25 December at Ming Court Chinese restaurant, and Fortuna Buffet Restaurant features something for the whole family starting with a champagne breakfast followed by free live entertainment for the kids over Christmas day lunch and dinner (including Santa Cornflake the Clown and popular covers duo “Double Take).”
The Observatory brasserie style buffet restaurant at Sky Tower features special Christmas Day lunch and dinner selections and Rebo Café and Bar will offer a Christmas Day special menu. Spaces are limited for Christmas dining at SKYCITY restaurants and bookings are essential.
On New Years Eve, 2003, SKYCITY Auckland will host the party of the year with free live 1920s – 1940s “Razzle Dazzle” themed entertainment throughout the complex’s 14 bars and restaurants and on the gaming floors. Typically the nation’s biggest party under one roof, the entertainment at SKYCITY Auckland includes complex wide theming, roving entertainers, free live bands and culminates in the city’s largest fireworks display erupting from the tip of Sky Tower on the stroke of midnight.
Other SKYCITY properties are also celebrating the festive season.
SKYCITY Hamilton is offering a special Christmas day lunch with hot and cold buffet selections and deserts including Christmas pudding with brandy sauce at The Post Buffet Restaurant. Two sittings are available at 11:30am and 2:00pm and all diners will receive a free gift from Santa’s mystery sack. On Boxing Day, SKYCITY Hamilton will open at midnight with over $5,000 worth of cash draw prizes from 12:30am to 3:00am and New Year’s Eve at SKYCITY Hamilton promises to be loads of fun with ‘Razzle Dazzle – Chicago’ themed celebrations to welcome in the new year.
SKYCITY Queenstown Casino will present customers with a free glass of bubbly on arrival on Christmas Eve (after 6pm). On New Years Eve revellers can enjoy a special set menu in Wild Thyme restaurant, free live entertainment from ‘Marty Astone’ (8pm – 10.30pm) followed by the popular ‘Vague As Brothers’ (from 10.30pmpm – 2am) as well as festive theming and party giveaways including hats and streamers.
