Pieces Of Eight This Weekend With Lotto
Powerball has jackpotted beyond $8 million and could be won this weekend, says New Zealand Lotteries Commission CEO Trevor Hall.
“In fact we’re guaranteeing at least $8.5 million this weekend, which means we’re in line to possibly make New Zealand’s fourth biggest lottery winner ever,” he said.
The largest prize to date with the country’s favourite jackpotting game - $19 million in September this year – was shared by 14 lucky players who won $1.3 million each.
“We made 15 big winners with Lotto last weekend including 10 Holden Commodore SS V8s and there will be plenty more winners both sides of Christmas. Watch this space,” Trevor Hall said.
So what would you do if you won the massive $8.5 million this weekend:
- Buy 37 houses at the average national price?
- Give every New Zealander $2 – and still have plenty left for yourself?
- Buy 136 Commodore SS V8s to share the garage with the one you won last weekend?
- Make your rural agent’s day by ordering a lifetime supply of No 8 wire?
- See “Pirates of the Caribbean” every screening for the rest of your days?
Trevor Hall says the interest alone on the $8.5 million would be enough to make the lucky winner very comfortable.
“At the 5-year fixed interest rate of 6.3% the ASB is currently quoting, our winner would be raking in $1,467 a day or $10,298 a week. And their bank manager would still love them!”
