He’s performed in front of Tongan Royalty, the All Blacks, and a worldwide TV audience of millions…now Lapi Mariner is sharing his talent with concertgoers at this year’s Coca-Cola Christmas in the Park.
Lapi will be opening the show with Theo singing “Shackles”. He will also be performing “Hey Baby – I Wanna Be Your Girl” with Frankie Stevens and “One Love” as a solo.
From his roots in West Auckland, 26-year-old Lapi Mariner has become known throughout the Pacific, Australasia and the US as ‘the voice of the Pacific’.
Since leaving the group Jamoa Jam to pursue a solo career, Lapi has continued to wow Pacific audiences with his energetic stage presence, his vocal range and versatility.
He’s in high demand as a soloist with audiences as diverse as the Sky City Casino, the NZRFU, All Black parties, and Tongan Royalty.
His first solo album, titled “Lapi”, showcases his love of Pacific music, R ‘n B, and gospel. Launched in 2002, it was a Tui Award Finalist in 2003 for Pacific Island Album of the Year.
