“NOT a Silent Night” nearly sold out!
The Auckland Philharmonia’s annual “Twinings NOT a Silent Night” concerts are again proving popular: the first two
concerts are nearly sold out and the third one is selling fast – within just two weeks of tickets going on sale!
“Twinings NOT a Silent Night” is a festive concert combining orchestral and vocal works, dance and readings. Joining the
Auckland Philharmonia and conductor Marc Taddei are the Chapman Tripp Opera Chorus (with chorus master John Rosser);
singers from the PricewaterhouseCoopers Dame Malvina Major Emerging Artists programme (courtesy of NBR New Zealand
Opera); Ilona Rodgers from Auckland Theatre Company; and dancers from UNITEC with choreography by graduate Tamsin
Russell.
The Auckland Philharmonia first performed “Twinings NOT a Silent Night” in 2000. “When it was created,” Orchestra
Manager John Ure says, “the objective was to present a Christmas concert that was innovative, just a little bit
different, and included our fellow performing arts organisations. It’s a very accessible concert that appeals to a wide
audience – and each year it’s been a huge success.”
Celebrate the festive season with “Twinings NOT a Silent Night”: Friday 12 December (7.30pm) and Sunday 14 December (4pm
and 7.30pm) at the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Parnell. Adult tickets from $38; concessions available. For bookings phone
the Auckland Philharmonia on 0800-PHILHARMONIA (0800-744 542).
The Auckland Philharmonia gratefully acknowledges Twinings of London for its sponsorship of these concerts. The Auckland
Philharmonia receives major funding from Creative New Zealand and a major grant from Auckland City.
