Entertainment aplenty at North Shore City's events centres
Two trans-Tasman sporting contests and an American singer are on the bill at North Shore City's three major
entertainment venues over the next few days.
The entertainment begins tonight at Takapuna's Bruce Mason Centre when pop and country star LeAnn Rimes takes the stage
to perform before a sell-out crowd.
On Saturday night, the North Harbour Stadium in Albany hosts the centenary rugby league test between the world champion
Australian Kangaroos and the New Zealand Kiwis. Tickets are still available for the clash between the world's best two
sides which kicks off at 5.30pm.
The following day, the NZ Breakers basketball side takes to the court at the North Shore Events Centre in the Wairau
Valley in its second home match of the 2003/2004 NBL season against the star-studded and unbeaten Melbourne Tigers.
Tip-off is at 7.10pm and tickets are available from the centre which can be accessed via Argus Place which is off
Sunnybrae Rd.
North Shore City Deputy Mayor Dianne says the three high profile events will showcase the city's three events centres
well.
"We're delighted to host all three in our city and they promise great entertainment. LeAnn Rimes is a world class star
with a brilliant voice and stage presence. The hundredth league test between the Kiwis and Kangaroos will be brilliant
and it's great that it will be played at North Harbour Stadium where the Kiwis have got such a great record over recent
years.
The Breakers' second home match on Monday should be another nail-biter when they take on the unbeaten Tigers from across
the ditch.
"There are still tickets available for the sporting contests and I urge people to get along and cheer the local sides
to victory!" says Councillor Hale who will be at both matches herself.
