First Class Fashion Media Fly in for L'Oreal New Zealand Fashion Week
Strongest line up yet for New Zealand collections
The New Zealand-born editor of one of the UK's biggest selling fashion magazines heads up a hard-hitting list of fashion media heading for L'Oréal New Zealand Fashion Week 2003.
Louise Chunn, editor of In Style UK, is attending the Winter collections for the first time to help her fly her very influential kiwi flag among her contacts in the international fashion world.
"I always support New Zealand designers whenever I can and I'm really glad I can finally attend L'Oréal New Zealand Fashion Week for a first hand look."
Chunn will fly straight in from attending Paris Fashion Week along with a posse of journalists from other fashion bibles including Elle US magazine.
Elle US Fashion Market editor Nicole Phelps will attend the New Zealand collections as part of her ongoing search for new trends. She's on a similar mission to Wall Street Journal columnist Tatiana Boncompagni who writes a column on fashion trends and innovations in that most serious of publications.
Funky Hong Kong lifestyle magazine West East is also visiting New Zealand for the first time for the collections. With a global distribution network and focus on what's hip for Asia's most influential market, West East is considered a big catch by L'Oréal New Zealand Fashion Week managing director Pieter Stewart.
"Our designers have told us how important the Asian market is to them and coverage in West East will go a long way towards enticing more buyers and media from this very important market to take a good look at New Zealand fashion."
There's strong support too from across the Tasman with a commitment of immediate post-show coverage on Vogue.com and three reporters from Vogue Australia traveling to Auckland to cover both on- and off-catwalk action.
Fashion writers from The Australian, Harpers Bazaar, In Style Australia and numerous daily Australian newspapers and trade publications have also registered as media delegates.
The verdict is that New Zealand fashion has won a spot on the world circuit of fashion weeks and that the first collections for Autumn Winter 2004 will be worth catching.
