Carlson Confirms Absence From L'oreal New Zealand Fashion Week Catwalk
Tanya Carlson has confirmed that Carlson will not show at L'Oreal New Zealand Fashion Week next month.
Tremendous sell through on the Carlson Summer 2003/04 collection has meant increased production orders and deadlines to
meet, which have taken priority over showing the new Winter collection. Carlson also has a new focus on the United
States market and, in Australia, has just appointed a new agent.
While not showing on the runway, Tanya Carlson will be attending Fashion Week to source new labels for her own retail
stores.
Tanya Carlson says she would have loved to show again this year, but time does not permit. "Doing a show is a huge
commitment and it's not just about getting the clothes ready. For me personally, it's about developing a strong concept
to show on the catwalk and really putting everything into communicating that vision." Carlson says.
"I couldn't give L'Oreal New Zealand Fashion Week show my full commitment at present, and I'm not prepared to make a
half-hearted effort," she says.

The Carlson Summer 2003/04 collection, now in store, showcases the art of seduction. Called Flirt, the collection draws
inspiration from the decorative arts movement of the 30s and wraps it up with sporty 60s profiles and 80s tailoring. The
end result is an engaging collection with signature Carlson style - fine detailing, exquisite fabrics and unexpected
elements of construction. Carlson's delicate flower appliqué reinterprets the decorative arts motifs made popular by
legendary ceramic artist Clarice Cliff, while sportswear tops showcase Pucci-like panelling.
Flirt embraces a neutral colour palette - parchment, cream, sand, cocoa, rose and pale blues. Fabrics include lots of
natural fibres - cotton, silk, cotton lycra and linen, as well as bias cut guipure laces and embroidered voiles.
Standout garments include gorgeous sleeveless sports dresses with insert diagonal stripes, relaxed summer dresses with
beautiful guipure lace detail, skinny pants, sports singlets with multi-coloured panels, and suiting with decorative
inset panels. And for the classicists - there is a superbly styled cream trenchcoat.
Carlson has showed at the previous two L'Oreal New Zealand Fashion Weeks, presenting acclaimed collections The Fall of
