Immanual Lutheran College Musicians Visit From Australia
Free Friday Lunchtime Concert, Friday September 26th, 12.15 to 1.15pm, Cathedral Square.
Visiting from Buderim in Queensland Australia, The Immanuel Lutheran College will perform in Cathedral Square this Friday as part of a ten-day tour of New Zealand.
32 musicians make up the performance group consisting of a Symphonic Band, a String Quartet, a Clarinet Ensemble and a Choir.
The String Quartet performs a variety of music ranging from classical to musical selections, TV and movie themes as well as modern popular music.
The Symphonic Band consists of 28 members and performs light classical to musical selections and modern music.
Under the direction of head of Performance Music at Immanuel College, Mr Shane McGuigan, the students have flourished. Many have gone on to further musical training at Queensland Conservatory in Brisbane.
This year's tour is progressing well. " It's fantastic! ' Says McGuigan, " People in New Zealand have been warm and welcoming and very receptive to our performance. We've done indoor and outdoor shows and have received great feedback."
Christchurch City Council Leisure presents free Friday Lunchtime Concerts every week throughout the year.
