Crafty ideas in the Library
The Bishopdale Library brought creative crafts into the library on Thursday when the Burnside Embroidery Group held a “Stitch in” - a practical demonstration of the art of embroidery. Sitting in the library from 10am until 3 pm, members of the embroidery group chatted and offered advice to library customers while working on their individual pieces of embroidery.
“We’re really delighted to have offered the Burnside Embroidery Group the opportunity to demonstrate their work in the library. We have a large collection of craft books and magazines and keep up to date with new trends such as ‘scrapbooking’ to compliment the arts and crafts” says Margaret Clune, Bishopdale Community Librarian. “It was a great way to give our customers entertainment and creative inspiration.”
Like many other craft groups in Bishopdale, the Burnside Embroidery Group meet every Tuesday in the Community Centre. A display of their embroidery can be seen at the Bishopdale Library until 3 October 2003.
